Tiny Home Builder Makes Big Impression

This Tiny Home Building family are making more than a Tiny impression on the Tiny House Industry!

I had a great day visiting the tiny home builders Havenwood Tiny Homes, in the Illawarra this week. Rick and Shani have built not only countless successful tiny homes, but a powerful and caring business. The journey began at their farm in Jamberoo, when their daughter, Jet, asked for a Tiny Home to help house her growing little family. The builder and his wife did such a good job, they saw to it to make little homes for everyone and their grandkids.  Within two years a business was flourishing, from one construction warehouse and a display centre that once showcased pools, hence the great fountain, their custom and off the shelf stunning designs were rolling out the door.

What sets Havenwood Tiny Homes apart from other tiny home builders?

What has set them aside from other builders is that Havenwood Tiny Homes will supply purchasers a fully registered trailer with a buy back option if the structure is intended to stay stationary and used as a granny flat style dwelling. Whilst having the trailer and its delivery included in the cost of the tiny house is a huge plus for anyone wanting to travel in these portable homes or move off grid, for those wishing to keep the little building as a granny flat, for some extra income or a guest house, the buy back option is a grea relief of responsibility, time and effort for land owners.

I was fortunate enough to explore some of these little luxuries during my visit.

A tiny home for the growing family

As a parent, the Jackson Tiny is my favourite, as it has the option to add an upper walkway between the two bedrooms on the upper level to save climbing up and down stairs in the middle of the night to get to your kids! All their models however are surprisingly spacious, with a full kitchen featuring a gorgeous timber breakfast bar. There website offers a clear guide to all the possible extras that you could add to your tiny. Whilst none are necessary to living comfortably in the homes, if I were in a position to include that spa bath on the deck that Havenwood Tiny Homes offer I know I would.

Recycle reuse is a great tiny home trait

My favourite service this company offers is that through Shani’s creativity and keen eye for design. You can even fit out your tiny with restored and painted furniture, or some artificial flower arrangements that could add another low-maintenance perfect little touch to the property for your short term tenant, holidayers or guests. Shani and Rick understand the customer’s needs beyond the build, and offer one shop for all.

Tiny's big enough to dance in!

Their second daughter, Storm, is oh so creative in making their weekly dance vibe video with vendors, staff and even fellow startup companies' like ours with the same mission to help create stylish affordable housing and reduce our ecological footprints, and leave a little more love on the earth. You can check us out dancing with Rick on instagram or pic below!

Wisdom and mindful, affordable living or holiday stay in a tiny home

Rick has a wealth of wisdom around secondary dwellings and what you can and can’t do, and can capably and pleasantly guide you along any granny flat or tiny home journey, whether you want to trek Australia in a portable house or establish a secondary dwelling on your land for holiday letting and short stays. From battery charging to local legislations, no question will be ignored. You can even tune into the company’s weekly live on Instagram where they personally will let you know the latest information or additions to their Tiny Home family.

I know I am going to put my name down on the waiting list for my own Custom built Tiny as I am currently on my own search for a rural block of land to fulfil my desire to try an off grid holiday and offer this as a holiday let option. You can even pop one tiny on rural land as a main dwelling, another as a secondary short stay or holiday dwelling and even a third as a unique caravan that can be let or have family visit for 60 days of use a year, with a trailer attached you are ready to trek down the future track! We can help with the holiday letting setup and you can advertise on our holiday or short stay section. Havenwood will be sure to help us and you with all the options!

If you would like any other information about Tiny Home Living please touch base with us and we can put you in touch with Havenwood in NSW or a Tiny Home Display Village near you.  Here’s one extra jewel of information they let us in on that is really useful in the harsh Australian landscape: Did you know, if you have been in a fire affected zone, new regulation allows you to live in a Tiny for up to two years with no main dwelling on the block? A Tiny home can really help out if you are rebuilding, so we are so grateful to know that our Government is accounting to those in need with updated legislature.
